2019 is almost over and it is time to talk about how my reading year went!! If you aren’t interested in stats then this probably isn’t the post for you but I thought this might be interesting.
First, I read 150 books in 2019! This is by far the highest amount of books I have read in one year, and seeing that 2020 will mostly consist of me studying, I don’t think I will be able to surpass this next year.
My average rating on Goodreads. This is not 100% accurate as I use half-star ratings and Goodreads doesn’t have that ability, unfortunately.
Goodreads also shows which books are the most and least popular amongst its users. My most popular read was Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling, and my least popular read was Dark Beloved by Helen Falconer.
Heartstopper: Volume 2 by Alice Oseman is the highest rated book of 2019 (according to Goodreads). Seeing as it is a highly talked about book, I do indeed agree with this statement.
Besides tracking my reading on Goodreads, I have also created a reading tracker in Google Sheets. I like to keep track on more stats than what Goodreads is giving me. For example, I now have an overview of the different genres I have read in 2019 (the tiny sliver of dark green is Magical Realism. It’s too small for Google to put a name to it).
The majority of my reading happened at the beginning of 2019. I wasn’t surprised, as I was still living in Dublin by then (and living alone), which gave me more time to read. I still read quite a bunch in the last half of the year, and I am not at all disappointed with the scores.
Overall, I am really happy with how much I read this year! Towards the end of the year, my reading went down a bit due to going back to school & moving in with my partner/moving back to the Netherlands after being abroad for almost 4,5 years), but I’m still incredibly proud with having read 150 books!
How did you go with your reading in 2019? How many books did you read! Let me know in the comments!
